Envisaging the Era of Technology Driven Medical Diagnostics and Treatment - IBC Medical Services

Technology has become an integral part in Medical Diagnostics and surgery, or to say, Technology enabled Medical procedures has made its place more visible in the Medical industry. Doctors are virtually capable to look inside the patient’s body and diagnose the abnormalities there with the help of sophisticated devices. Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy are also specialized Medical Diagnostics and surgical procedures incorporating the use of sophisticated technological apparatus to look for functional and structural abnormalities in female reproductive system that require specific training to be adept in the basic techniques of using the so called devices. Technology is practically intervening in the health industry in diagnosis, Treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of diseases. Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy are specialty Medical procedures that are intended to improve healthcare practices by professionals by early diagnosis of abnormalities in the female genital tract, and less invasive Treatment of the same.
Colposcopy which is etymologically derived from the ancient Greek words ‘kolpos’ meaning womb and ‘skopos’ meaning look at. Colposcopy is basically a Medical diagnostic to examine the cervix, vagina and vulva by inserting a device called colposcope in the female genital tract. Colposcopy device provides an enlarged view of the internal genitals of the patient and hence directed biopsy can be conducted by taking tissues from the abnormal appearing areas. The main goal of Colposcopy is the prevention of cervical cancer by detecting precancerous lesions early and treating them by proper medication.

One of the most frightening times in a woman's life is when the gynecologist says that her Pap smear results are abnormal. Although an abnormal Pap smear indicates cervical cancer, but the fact is that the majority of abnormal Pap smears are not caused by cervical cancer. The more likely cause of abnormal Pap smear results is inflammation or a vaginal infection but cervical cancer can still not be ruled out.Because the Pap smear can only screen for potential problems, not diagnose them, the gynecologists may  feel the need of taking a closer look at your cervix to determine the cause of your abnormal  results. Here comes the requirement to perform an examination called a Colposcopy.
Hysteroscopy has a much wider range of diagnostic procedures compared to Colposcopy. Hysteroscopy is the way a doctor looks at the lining of the uterus of a patient. They use a thin viewing tool called a hysteroscope that has a light and cam Era hooked to it to project the lining endometrium on a video screen.
The tip of the Hysteroscopy device is put into the vagina and gently moved through the cervix into the uterus and hence provides a wider view of the female genital tract and also captures images thereof to be used for diagnosis later on
Hysteroscopy may be done to find the cause of abnormal bleeding genErally after the patient has passed menopause. It also may be done to see if a blockage exists in the uterus preventing the patient from becoming pregnant. Operative Hysteroscopy can be used to remove growths in the uterus, such as fibroid.
